Daisy has spent the summer roaming around Europe finding inspiration in her favourite landscapes of Italy and Switzerland. Being primarily a plein air artist, Daisy is deeply absorbed in the effects of light and how th eplay of shimmering water and scrudding clouds reflect nature's unfiltered mood.
One senses in this exhibition a new found lyricism in her works, not only do they seem to say more but they say it in a more colourful and harmonious way. There is an added confidence in the way she handles colour, evident in the burnished terracottas and plangent greens of a Lake Como villa, the impressive skies of Norfolk and the deep blue seas of Cornwall, two more of the artists's favourite haunts. The eye is led around the canvas not only by an assured composition but also by Daisy's exuberant and judicious employment of colour.
There is an obvious joy about her paintings and one perceives a fresh expansiveness, a deeper understanding of her art, bringing a certain sophistication to her evocations of the great outdoors. If one senses an influence then the crispness and boldness of the genius artist Laura Knight comes to mind, but Daisy is forging her own way and these new paintings present a wonderful new showcarse to her burgeoning career.
