Daisy Sims Hilditch
Daisy is a portrait and landscape painter specialising in painting from life.

Daisy's portraits are painted from life, to capture the personality and spirit of her subject in a painterly and fluid way. She also loves being out in the open and paints her landscapes "en plein air". The practice of painting outdoors informs her studio practice and enhances the use of colour and light in her portraits.

+ More about Daisy

“Daisy is an extremely versatile painter in the landscape and portrait traditions working both in plein air as the Impressionists before her and in the studio on ‘sight-size’ portraits of remarkable naturalism and elegance. Stylistically her handling of the medium is both painterly and refined in its application. In this respect she is an artist who understands how to control and manipulate paint in order to achieve portraits of astounding intimacy and beauty” — Philip Mould - leading British Art and Old Masters specialist

I am 50 years old this year and George and Simi have just given me the most wonderful present I have ever received in my life. Daisy Sims Hilditch has caught George in a way that reminds me of John Singer Sargent or Nicky Philipps. I am a lucky man and I love this painting - simple happiness.

A short email to say that the Portland Gallery sent the painting to me before Christmas and I am delighted with it. A stunning piece of work now hanging in our Sitting Room. Thank you

Happy to report the painting arrived earlier this morning and I have just unwrapped to check there was no damage, I am utterly thrilled with it and can’t wait to gift it to my husband on Christmas day.

I’ve only recently discovered your family, and accounts online. I just feel to commend you and your family in the way you have invested your exceptional talents. Not only do you all create and present the beauty in your life’s work, your character and etiquette in communication is also much appreciated. I’d say your family and their accomplishments are a national treasure as is your beautiful artwork.
God bless you all

So much beauty in your pictures...not just dimly lit sight-size (which is fab too)....but shades of Constable, Bonnington Girtin. Love your colours and your darned good taste - more please!

We had driven off ....really happy that Sophie at Portland Gallery gave us a call to tell us you were going to come. The painting will always have a special connection for us.

So delighted we are, that we have just bought ‘The Salute from Gondola Pier’ from Glebe Gallery. Your paintings are very arresting. All three of us love the colours, the restraint and the lightness in your paintings and are going to enjoy them everyday.

..... and now I will be eagerly waiting for your next trip to Switzerland, more than my own trip.

Happy describes nothing. Tears filled my eyes when I opened the package. You captured his spirit incredibly, especially his look.

You can’t imagine how grateful to you I am.

I just wanted to say thank you for the fabulous painting. It arrived safely before Christmas. The whole family are absolutely blown away by it and when I unwrapped it, it actually made me cry... in a good way.
At the moment it’s hanging in our bedroom so I can be transported to Cornwall as soon as I wake up. The light and texture is just beautiful. I really hope that we make it to Pendower beach this summer.
Keep up the good work.
