Commission

Daisy paints from life under natural light, using the Sight-Size method. The sight size method has been used by masters since the seventeenth century, including Reynolds, Lawrence, and Sargent, while its origins lie in the practice of Titian, Van Dyck and Velázquez. It is a method of constructing realistic drawings with great accuracy. Rather than focusing on detail, the artist observes the motif from a distance and conveys the visual effect.

Framing

Daisy is pleased to offer complimentary framing on all purchases. She works with her preferred London framer who handcrafts each frame individually to suit the painting.

The framing process begins by applying a gesso finish to the frame which dries to a plaster and provides a hard, smooth foundation for layering the base colour with a beautiful tonal palette chosen to work well with painting. An antique gold leaf finish is then applied followed by a soft wax. For ease, the back of the frame has strong metal fittings and a robust wire.

If you have any specific requests regarding the framing please email: hello@daisysimshilditch.com
